Little surprises make life fun! I was surprised 
and happy to find out that my newest scrapbook 
page was listed as Most Wanted this week at CSI

At CSI- ColorsStoriesInspiration- there is a different challenge each week in which you can participate. I just finished making a page for Case File 137. For each Case File you must use all five colors, two items from the Evidence list and one thing from Testimony. Isn't this a cheery color scheme?

Here is my layout~

I used:

lace, ribbon roses, pom pom ribbon, pink burlap

7 Gypsies 97% stickers

washi tape

machine stitching

Prima Pearls

Petaloo flowers and glitter heart

modeling past and spray ink

two selfies of College Girl and her childhood friend

There is torn washi tape along the top and bottom of the page. I zigzag stitched around the photos

For the envelope listed in Evidence I used a clear ziploc bag stitched down between the photos. 

Here is a closer shot of the modeling paste misted with spray ink

College Girl can journal about her friendship, 

and I will tuck the note into the little bag with the glitter heart inside.

I had to include this funny sticker because it suits these two.
 Just kidding, of course!

Pink Saturday

Nothing To Do and All Day To Do It In

I used a photo of the Finding Bigfoot cast on my page. There is hidden journaling on the pull-out tag.

I decided to play along at

 CSI Colors-Stories-Inspiration

this weekend and got my scrapbook page photographed and uploaded for the challenge in the nick of time! CSI has new challenges regularly, so if you miss one there is always another one to inspire you. For this layout, I used the following as my guideline: Case File No. S365-7

CSI requests that you use all five colors in the file, two things from the Evidence list and something from Testimony on your page. (I also used a tiny touch of brown). When I saw that there was a hot air balloon in the Evidence list I was delighted! I was working on a layout using an April sketch from Page Maps and it included a hot air balloon. Notice that the sketch has string, scallops, and clouds too? Serendipity! Instead of using two small pictures, I chose to use one 4" x 6" photo.

I decided to make a layout about the fun things we did this summer. We are homebodies and enjoy unscheduled time, and the months College Girl isn't in class are perfect for stay-cations. Everything on my page is symbolic of our summer activities. 

I used Scrapmatts laser cut chipboard clouds and winged bird

I misted, stamped (branches and vacation quote), and sewed on the background page before I got started with paper layering.

I used Crushed Olive and Peeled Paint Ranger inks to distress the paper edges.

I used a photo of the Finding Bigfoot cast because College Girl and I watched an episode almost every night after Handyman went to bed - she and I are night owls! Speaking of owls, one night a large Great Horned Owl perched at the very tip of our Norfolk Pine in the front yard and we took a picture of it.

On the pull-out tag (left) I listed the fun things we did over the summer break, which included listening to music from the 1940's and watching 1940's movies. We also tried new recipes, went to Charming Charlie's and Ulta for the first time, had backyard fires, read books, and did ceramic painting. 

One scrapbook page done, a few thousand to go- haha!

Summer's Whimsy

Each fairy breath of summer, as it blows with loveliness, inspires the blushing rose.

Summer is winding down and I decided to make a scrapbook page about the two fairy gardens I planted weeks ago. I stamped bricks near the photos, and used decorative scissors and stitching to embellish the edges of the white card stock. 

I used Heidi Swapp Primrose mist on the Scrap Fx fairy and K and Company mushrooms. To make the banner I used a circle punch and folded the small circles in half over bakery twine. 

 Next, I used a calligraphy pen to write the title.

While working on the page I tried to keep my mind off the fact that summer break is nearly gone. I don't particularly care for summer's heat, but do enjoy having our daughter home. College Girl begins classes on Monday and I am already feeling that old familiar sadness of back to school.  "Alarm clock mornings", I call them.

Trying to keep a positive attitude, I went outside to water the backyard. That is when I spotted one of the season's last roses.

 

Great, I thought, even the roses are taking their leave. But then as I showered the plants with water, I noticed buds on the Camellia tree.

Somehow that made me feel better. 
We'll have less time with our special girl, but the coming season holds so much joy. 
I love autumn and all that goes with it, like cooler temperatures, spicy scents, fresh picked apples, family birthdays and the holidays.

 


 Happy Pink Saturday - the last weekend of the summer for our household. Wishing you a little whimsy and magic as autumn approaches.
