November Morning

A tingling, misty marvel
Blew hither in the night,
And now the little peach-trees
Are clasped in frozen light.

This morning College Girl cooked up a pot of old fashioned oatmeal. It was the perfect thing for a chilly November morning! I like mine with toasted almonds, prunes and a drizzle of honey and milk.

It was so dark and overcast that I lit a candle before I poured the tea.

How do you like your oatmeal? With milk? Do you add a sprinkle of cinnamon like we do?

Upon the apple branches
An icy film is caught,
With trailing threads of gossamer
In pearly patterns wrought.

Winter Wishes

 Haul out the holly
Put up the tree before my spirit falls again
Fill up the stocking
I may be rushing things, but deck the halls again now...

It has been overcast, rainy and blustery and I love it! I was so excited when I turned on the radio and discovered that KOST FM is now playing Christmas music. As I listened to We Need A Little Christmas I worked on another card using Treasured Times Sweet Christmas stamp. You can see the easel ornament card I made with this stamp here . This time I started out with a bank white card which I cut into a house shape. I covered the house and roof with paper and used a bow topped gift for a chimney. Next, I placed the stamped image behind a die cut frame, added trees and a deer. I finished it off with some Stickles  on the snowflakes and deer antlers.

For we need a little Christmas
Right this very minute
Candles in the window
Carols at the spinet
And we need a little Christmas
Right this very minute
We need a little Christmas now!

Some Girls Are Just Meant to Fly

A few weeks ago I won some 'candy' from a blog hop featuring Scrapmatts, and I decided to take a break from making greeting cards in order to create a 12" x 12" scrapbook page. Time flies, and it seems it's been awhile since I made a layout! College Girl provides ample photo ops for me and I am behind on scrapping some of my favorites.

On this page I did some border stitching and wrote
If pictures say 1000 words, why do yours leave me speechless?

This photo was taken as my daughter was leaving for Pref Day during her sorority's Fall Recruitment and she is wearing her kite necklace.  I used Kappa Alpha Theta symbolism: a kite, a punch to depict Pansies, and part of 1 Corinthians 13:13.

I also used Scrapmatts floral scroll, painted black, and the mini word 'admire'. College Girl is dedicated to her studies and I admire her well earned achievements.

During the past two weeks I have been cleaning house, Christmas shopping, toured a 100 year old home, visited Disneyland's Thor exhibit and still found time to walk. I am determined to get my daily walks, especially with the holidays on the horizon. Anyone started Christmas decorating? That's next on our agenda.

I used my Verve stamps to make this get well card for a dear friend. She is an avid tea drinker and I thought the 'feel better blend' was perfect for her. I dry embossed the hugs and kisses and used Mary Engelbreit paper. I blended a little Distress Ink Spun Sugar on the embossed card stock and finished it off with pink bakery string.

I think I have recovered now from a full day standing outside El Capitan theater on Monday in Hollywood. Whew! Handyman, College Girl and I went to our first-ever movie premiere, and it was for Marvel's Thor II. By going to the premiere, I mean standing alongside the red carpet for the cast and crew to walk by as they head into the theater. I have to edit the photos, and then I will share what we did and who we saw.

College Girl is a huge Marvel fan. Tonight she and I are going to see the opening of Thor 2, The Dark World. We hear the movie is fast paced fun with some surprises. Can't wait to see what happens with Loki.
