It has been overcast, rainy and blustery and I love it! I was so excited when I turned on the radio and discovered that KOST FM is now playing Christmas music. As I listened to We Need A Little Christmas I worked on another card using Treasured Times Sweet Christmas stamp. You can see the easel ornament card I made with this stamp here . This time I started out with a bank white card which I cut into a house shape. I covered the house and roof with paper and used a bow topped gift for a chimney. Next, I placed the stamped image behind a die cut frame, added trees and a deer. I finished it off with some Stickles  on the snowflakes and deer antlers.

It's Flag Day! We have a telescoping flag pole in our backyard and we fly the Stars and Stripes on National holidays such as Veteran's Day, July 4th, and today, which also happens to be my sister's birthday. When I spoke to her she said she was headed to the pool after eating cupcakes- sounds like a nice day.

 

 In the U.S, Flag Day is celebrated on June 14. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which happened on that day in 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. The U.S. Army also celebrates it's birthday on this date.

 I've been having fun using my new Treasured Times stamp. This little guy is perfect for sending a birthday wish.

 

I stamped him twice, then fussy cut the first stamping to remove the icing and the cupcake paper in order to layer it on the second stamping for dimension - see below.

I used:

• Glossy Accents on the cherry for shine
• Martha Stewart white flocking on the icing area
• Stickles for swirl lines over the flocking
• Distress Inks to color image
• vintage book page misted with red ink
• Spellbinders nestbilities for shaped matting
• Treasured Times Boneco Cupcake stamp

Easter cards~

Easter is coming and I had yet to make some greeting cards to send out! It was rather hot today, so I decided to stay inside and create....of course, I am good at finding any excuse to spend some time in my scrapbook room. Before heading upstairs though, I made a quick trip to the backyard for a vasefull of cuttings. It is so nice to be able to walk outside and collect a few fresh flowers for the kitchen and bedrooms. Here are the irises growing under our Bay Tree.

So, with Iris and roses for inspiration, I got started making cards.

I used a blank Krome Kote card and cut it in half in order to have 2 separate pieces with which to work. On the card above, I smeared Distress Ink on my Ranger Craft Sheet then misted the ink with water. I pressed the piece of Krome Kote onto the beaded ink/water mixture, then lifted and patted dry with paper towels. Next, I used my Ink Blending Tool to blend various inks around the perimeter. Using my Marvy square punch, I punched out a scalloped square and stamped it with my Stampendous Music Score wood stamp.

The flower and bee are K and Co die cuts. (thanks, Heather!). I also used my Martha Stewart embossing edge punch on the Krome Kote, then mounted the die cuts on foam dots. A little bit of Stickles finishes this one!

I am such a fan of resist techniques, so I used wax paper and a hot iron to create the effects on this cards' Krome Kote piece. Crumple a piece of wax paper, flatten it, lay it over the tag/card,etc. Place a second tag or card over that, or a piece of scrap paper. (wax paper in the middle, like a sandwich). Place a larger scrap paper over the whole thing and iron with a dry/hot iron for several seconds. You do not want the iron to touch the wax paper. Discard wax paper. A waxy design will be coated on your tag/card 'bread' pieces! You can now mist, spread or blend ink onto this and watch the pattern appear. Look at the card above, under the square K and Co. flower tag...see the marbled looking inked piece? That is the Krome Kote onto which I blended Distress Ink in Dusty Concord, Chipped Sapphire, Bundled Sage and Spun Sugar. I finished the card with colored cardstock, ribbon, edge punching and Adirondack espresso paint dabber for the K and Co tag. 

I'm A Little Teapot~

I never made an ATC until last weekend. I made this to participate in the ATC Challenge hosted by the Oh La La Group at Bella Creations. This particular challenge uses a background and image from Bella Creation's sponsor Gecko Galz. I printed out the background stripe, as well as the black & white girl image. Then I added a tiny 3D awning made with graphic45 Flight Of Fancy and trimmed in Spiced Marmalade Stickles. I colored the girl's dress with Distress Ink Broken China, and cut off the teapot lid to give her a hat! I used Hero Arts 'Paris' stamps to make the sentiment, and voila! My first ATC~
