I would rather sit on a pumpkin and have it
all to myself than be crowded on a velvet cushion.

Here we are in the midst of October and the Girl Scout in me says I better start Christmas shopping. I picked up a few items this past week and need to pull out my holiday binder to start writing down my shopping and to do lists.
Meanwhile, all the fall decor filling the stores makes me happy. I love this time of year! Our temperatures are still summer-ish, however, and I can't wait until after Halloween when it'll be cooler and I can wear boots, scarves and jackets. Although I drink tea year round - but, you knew that! - it will be nice to clasp a warm cup in my hands on a chilly afternoon. I just became aware that I don't own any Halloween themed teacups. How did that happen? I spotted this charming handmade cup on etsy.
I like the vibrant orange web on the saucer and the crisp white porcelain teacup with dangling spiders....eeek!
And speaking of orange, have you bought pumpkins yet? Because of the heat we don't purchase pumpkins until the third week of October. I'm buying pumpkins from Trader Joe's this year as they are only $2.99 each! My sister lives in the mountains where it is much cooler and already has pumpkins displayed in her yard. Here is a photo of her Garden Witch~
My sister is quite crafty and likes making the outside of her home as festive as the inside. I wonder what the local bears think of 'Blanche'?
Look at all those leaves on the ground! The leaves are only beginning to turn color and drop in our neighborhood. I love walking through them and hearing them crunch underfoot.
Clothes make a statement.
Costumes tell a story.

LOL you're welcome to come to Chicago where the weather is dreadfully cold and damp! I'll trade you any day for warmer temps! I love the Thoreau quote -- I may use that on one of my chalkboards.
ReplyDeleteHi my friend! Oh your cup and saucer is soooo cute and different. How fun for Halloween.
ReplyDeleteOur weather is too warm too...in the 70's all week which is not our norm.
Off to a quilt retreat tomorrow for a few days.
Have a great week.
Linda
Love how your sister has decorated outside! Blanche looks very festive and I love all of the wonderful color and Fall leaves. Living in Texas we just do not have very much color or cool weather!
ReplyDeleteHave a Happy Week!

Hi Shawn, I had to throw three small pumpkins away today because they had started to rot. Been warm here lately too. Love your sisters witch and your teacup is so, so fun!

Blessings, Shawn! So good to catch up with you and all your creative inspirations out west! I will have to try this pumpkin/banana bread recipe - using gf flour, though - yes, I have to have baking smells in my house through this season! I'm on WP now and settling in after a very frustrating month of changes. The new platform gets easier as I work through it. Opened my new Etsy shop at www.etsy.com/shop/cameoimpressions - so many big changes this season and I don't mean the leaves! Joy to you!!

We're in full colour these days, Shawn, as it cools down a quite a bit once mid September arrives. This year we've had some warm spells though which I have enjoyed tremendously! We have leaves all over the yard which I enjoy. I don't know why but I find it a charming setting. Funny! Your teacup is perfect for the season and your sister is very creative. Thanks so much for joining me for tea and have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
We've been blessed with the nicest fall weather. Cool mornings, warm afternoons, and chilly nights. Love the teacup! Visiting from Teacup Tuesday at Artful Affirmations. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteLucky you to find such a lovely handmade cup. Well done. I think I'm actually the only person I know who doesn't mind spiders...lol. Here, in Vancouver, it's pretty cool and autumnal, so no problems with the pumpkins. the local garden centre is selling them for $2.50 so I'll go get some very soon. I love the witch your sister has made. She seems like a very crafty person. I'm looking forward to getting out all our handmade Halloween decorations. :) Hope you have a lovely week.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute teacup! Very cute! And your fall decor is wonderful. I CAN almost hear the leaves crunching underfoot! Thanks so much for linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea!

It's really not that easy to find cute fall/Halloween teacups. I finally found a maple leaf cup and saucer a few months ago that I actually liked.(Plus, it was Canadian, which is where my heritage comes from). Your spider web cup is cute, but we get lots of real spiders around our lakehouse, so I'm not a fan of them. LOL! It's taking me a little longer to get into the Christmas spirit, but it will be here before we know it, as I'm quite often reminded. Until then, I'm also having a cup of my favorite tea over at my blog. Have a wonderful day!!!
