To accept this award I am supposed to list seven bloggers who have inspired me; a tough feat because in this crafting realm which I enter when signing into Blogger, there are dozens of creative, inspirational, and charming blogs written by warm generous women! One of my dearest friends also received this Sweet Blog Award from Kelly, so I will exempt her from the seven for now but she inspires me daily. Patty, thank you for your evergreen friendship. You are a kindred spirit, my 'partner in crime.' Here are my seven choices in no particular order, and I hope you have the chance to visit these blogs. You'll be glad you did~ Miss Kathy at The Writer's Reverie is a joy. Dawn is a mother of nine and makes beautiful scrapbook pages. Pam at Faery Rocks just bought a dress form to decorate her creative space. Angela at Penny Stamper shares vintage images and designs stamps. Terri at Artful Affirmations is visiting England and always shares gorgeous teacups with us. Denise has a new grandson and told me where to find the brick stamp I love to use when I'm inking! Last but not least, I love to visit Altered Alice for inspiration.
Here are some weird, wacky facts about me;
* I love bees and bee skeps...the charm, the industry, the honey! ("Oh, bother!" says Pooh bear) I have kept a bee skep in my yard for the past 20 years, usually sitting in the herb bed. bzzzzz......
* I will not eat sweet pickles...one word, ick! Give me a crunchy dill~ You may all share my portion of sweet pickles on this planet.
* I love good children's books and reread my favorites regularly. You will find copies of The Hobbit, From the Mixed Up Files Of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler, Anne Of Green Gables, Mr. Putter And Tabby Pour The Tea, The Gawgon And The Boy and more on my shelves.
*I studied Urusenke for three years with my wonderful sensei and performed tea ceremonies in public wearing an authentic kimono and obi. I had the priviledge to see the Grand Tea Master when he visited the United States.* I do not watch much television, but I will sit down to watch David Tennant ~ the 10th Doctor~ in an episode of Doctor Who.
And guess what? The Doctor drinks tea!!

I think a "sweet" award is so fitting for you! I also think you are a poet! Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to hopping around to all these blogs! In junior high, I always had an Anne of Green Gables novel somewhere on me. It still is among my favorite collections.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the award!
ReplyDeleteVery sweet, indeed!
ReplyDeleteThe dd and I recently returned from Turkey, where they drink more tea per person than anywhere else in the world--it was like going home . . .
:)
ps--we do like a good Dr. Who, too, but aren't particular as to which one!
OH, PIC.....you are just as sweet as honey!!! Thank you, Mrs. California Sunshine!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs and love to YOU!!!!
Congratulations Shawn, Thanks for the mention, we have been away from computer(mini vacation time)
ReplyDeleteLove that you are the keeper of the bees. Without them we as a human race do not survive!!
Love your gardening post. So nice to have a helpful DH. Have you tried Irish spring shavings to keep the bunny's discouraged? I read somewhere, they don't like the smell.
Have a great day and keep blogging
PS I too visit some of your favorites and am off to peek at your mentions.
I'm a dill girl too! WE have SO much in common...ha ha ha!
ReplyDeleteOh you are too sweet!! Thank you for mentioning me!! I adore you! I will take your sweet pickles and you can share dill with my hubby...lol He loves those too! :) **HUGS**
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your blog award! I feel really honored that you listed The Altered Alice as one of your chosen! It is a project that is dear to my heart, and I see that it also ties into your love of childhood favorite stories! I too regularly re-read my favorites; after all a good story is good regardless of age! The Mixed Up Files are on my shortlist too, and I recently downloaded the audiobook which was so interesting as the children had the proper accents! I'll take your sweet pickles but you'll have to share the crunchy dills, I'm not giving them up! ;-)
