My friend Cindy sent me a tea themed die cut and I thought it was perfect for a 'thinking of you' card, so I took out some pink paper, Liquid Pearls, and my paper trimmer and went to work. Here is the card I created~
The flower matches well in person, but looks more coral pictured above. I used black & white bakery string, Prima crystals, and a Tim Holtz stamp for the sentiment. I also used Quick Quotes pink ink on the edge of the die cut, then headed into the adjoining bathroom to wash my inky fingers. This bathroom is actually my daughter's bathroom...it is a 'Jack and Jill' set up with her bedroom and my ScrapRoom attatched to one bathroom. When I was standing at the sink I took a cursory glance around and noticed quite a few pink items! My silly sense of humor kicked in...so I thought I'd share some of the pink items a teen uses before heading out the door for the day~
If so, you know where I am going with this. lol~ It is a charming story about all the things you will end up doing if you give a mouse a cookie. My daughter enjoyed this book when she was little because that mouse sure kept the boy in the story busy with one thing after another. Well, after my foray into the teen bathroom~ I made it out without tripping on the hair dryer cord!~ I went into the kitchen to try making pink sugar. Online instructions say to either use paste, liquid or powdered food coloring. I am a cake decorator and I always have paste food coloring on hand, so that is what I used. The paste food coloring worked well on granulated sugar, but did not work as well on the turbinado, or 'sugar in the raw'. Mix the food coloring into the sugar with a fork at first, then crumble and mix with your fingertips. Bonus? You will now have pink fingertips! Spread on a plate and let dry for an hour. Voila! Pink sugar for your tea.
I am sharing this post with Beverly at How Sweet The Sound~
Love the card, smiled at the teen pinks, but seriously pink sugar! LOL!

What pretty pinks, and I am so gonna have to try making Pink Sugar for the next tea we have.
ReplyDeleteToo cute! I laughed a little to see the pink headphones in the stash. I guess it was something that just didn't occur to me before.... But then, I'm silly today so who knows?
ReplyDeleteYou created a wonderful pink card - nice going!
ReplyDeleteYour card is very cute and I love pink sugar! Even tho I never use sugar in my tea or coffee, I love how it looks in the sugar bowl; especially when it's pink! Happy Pink Saturday weekend.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
What an adorable card.
ReplyDeleteShawn - This is such a beautiful PINK card!!! I really loved the story about the mouse and the pink sugar!! Being the mother of 4 & 2 being girls, I do understand about all the "pink" items that they do have - even at their ages of 35 & 38!! LOL
ReplyDeleteAmazing what can be done with a little creativity. Your card is nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks for "pinking" up my day, Shawn! Adorable card!
ReplyDeleteWonderful story!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card! Your daughter's things look just like my daughter's! Thanks for sharing the idea for pink sugar - great idea!

Cute! Cute! Chuckle! Chuckle! Loved the bonus of pink fingers! My daughter's bathroom counter looks like yours except she tends to get things in green containers. Actually, lately they've been a boring white. My shampoo and conditioner is bright orange - but not on the counter since we put in a new mirror cabinet - hooray! I actually found my bathroom counter now! Anyway - been a busy weekend for me and I missed my Pink Saturday post - was late on my Harvest series post - and just tossed a devotional up there because I can't stop thinking about it. Will try to get back on my post track this week.
ReplyDeleteJoy!

Pink sugar! I had never heard of having pink sugar before. Now you know, I must try this. :0)
ReplyDeleteMy Mother, a tea lover, is coming to visit this week. . . maybe now is a good time!
Thanks so much for stopping by to visit me.
Love the card. I'm not very creative so I always appreciate people who do the card/scrap booking thing.
ReplyDeleteShawn, I'm in love with that pink card. I need to spend some time learning to make my own cards, they are so much more personable than the ones you purchase in the store.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog and to answer your question about Elephant Ears, they are a deep fried flatbread that is usually covered with cinnamon sugar when they come out of the frier. A sweet treat but not on a day as hot as yesterday.
Have a great week.
Thank you for comming by my Pink Sat post. I adore the "thinking of you" card!. My grandchildren love this book-we've read it numerous times. Looks like a really girly bathroom.
