In the Trenches~

I think we have seen the last of our heat, as we had our usual October heat wave this past week and now temps are supposed to settle into mid 70's. However, with the Fall comes the annual dry Santa Ana winds. Hold onto your hats! ~lol~
Windy weather means chapped hands. My family and I wash our hands often to stave off viruses, and that contributes to the need for lotion. Our favorite hand soap in October is Bath & Body Works Pumpkin scented liquid soaps. Mmmmmm... makes the whole bathroom smell nice.

Our favorite hand lotion is a shea butter variety by L'Occitane. It leaves our hands moisturized yet not greasy.

Speaking of windy weather, it won't be too long before we get some rainy days. I have been on a three year long quest for a classy trench coat...seriously, 3 years! I always seem to find coats that are too long, too short, don't have details I like, are cement colored (which doesn't work with my skin tone), or just plain too expensive. I mean, why do most trench coats cost over $200? If they are less expensive, they usually fall into one of the above mentioned "NOT" categories. I have looked at TJMaxx, online, at end-of-season sales, you name it, and just had not found the right trench. Until now. I am so excited! I stumbled upon the Express store website last week. They were having a sale and I had an additional 15% off coupon code. Good things come to those that wait...and it doesn't hurt to look for a internet coupon code before you click 'purchase'!

This darling military trench has subtle slit pockets, epalets, adjustable buckled sleeves, is contoured, and has a buttoned back shoulder flap I adore. I also really like that the buttons match, because when they contrast it draws too much attention to the bust area. It is so flattering on...and I got it on sale and with the additional 15% off....Woooohooo! I'm in love...can't wait for it to rain. haha~

  3. Very classy little coat. You will have to model it for us when it comes.
I lucked out and got a long one a few years back. It is my go to for special occasions.
Not an actual rain jacket ( would hate to ruin it LOL)

  4. Hi: Did I mention we are neighbors? The Santa Ana winds, gave yo away. The scripture you have on the top of your blog is one of my favorites. I am always fighting different fears. Thanks for sharing it. Blessings, Martha

  5. I was just wondering what part of California you're in and now I know! I don't think I've ever been in So Ca when they are happening. Pumpkin soap? Sounds marvelous. My daughter is such a pumpkin fiend though she would constantly be washing her hands, then, for sure, we'd need that lotion too.

Love the trench! Mine is bright pink with big white buttons and a pink and white polka dot lining. But sometimes it would be nice to have a more subtle one.

  6. Welcome Autumn! Oh, the joys of scented soaps, soft hand, and a trench coat the fits and matches my skin tone. And, I'm here smack dab in the middle of farmstand country defining fall by all the pumpkin and cornstalk decor propped up in front yards - and miles of mums. Today - we have winds, too - and the leaves are coating the lawn. Happy fall!
    Joy!

  7. Mmm, the pumpkin scent sounds wonderful.

Don't know much about the Santa Ana's but the Iowa winds have been blowing pretty good here. Luckily the beginning of the week was pretty warm so it was a beautiful warm wind, but it's getting cold here now, I wish that meant 70's, more like 60's or less.

I know the feeling of trying to find just the right trench coat, I've been looking for a while now too! The one you found looks great! Enjoy those rainy days!
