Sweet Kisses

Does anyone use a humidifier in the room where you sleep? Does it help you breathe? I've read that it helps diminish dry skin and lips as well as curb coughing and sniffing. While we were running some errands the other day I spotted this adorable elephant humidifier at Target. College Girl is an elephant fan, and she thought this was the cutest thing! I'm debating whether to buy this little 'ele' and use it at night while sleeping. Yeah or nay?

Chapped lips seem impossible to avoid in January, so College Girl looked online for an easy-to-make Lip Scrub. We like using natural household products for cleaning and beauty purposes and decided on a simple, three ingredient concoction. Recipe: combine equal parts olive oil, brown sugar and honey. Apply a small amount to your lips and rub gently. It tastes good! Rinse your lips or softly wipe Lip Scrub off with a cloth. We had several tablespoons left over, so I put the mixture in a sealed container and we have used it several times.

 Someone painted pictures on my
Windowpane last night
Willow trees with trailing boughs
And flowers, frosty white,

And lovely crystal butterflies;
But when the morning sun
Touched them with its golden beams,
They vanished one by one.

  1. I love that elephant humidifier, Shawn! It's absolutely adorable! I have not tried one, so I cannot say yay or nay, but it's probably worth a try, depending on $$$! . . . and chapped lips are always a big problem in our home during the winter. Not only for me, but for Anne, too! We will give this scrub a try!!!!!

  4. Fun blog! Thanks so much for the card...you are a master!
    We have a woodstove and I have a nice humidifier we use while we are burning wood. It's a green coated cast iron pot with a lattice weave on top. Love it.
    Stay warm.

  7. Hello, I loved the idea for the dry chapped lips! I will be trying this one:)
    I will tell you that the table top humidifier really works! I bought mine at Target. I think it was around $30.00 but it has made a huge difference. The elephant style is way cuter!

  9. Hi Shawn, it has been so cold and dry this year that my lips have been so chapped and I keep getting razor cuts on my fingers and thumbs. I have been super glueing them like crazy. This sounds like a great recipe. I'll have to give it a try. I have heard that about a humidifier but have not tried it. I really should pull mine out and see. The ele is super cute. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
    hugs,
    Jann
