I love spring anywhere, but if I could choose
I would always greet it in a garden.

One of the surest signs of Spring for us is the return of a pair of yellow Orioles who first visited our backyard two years ago. I can't tell you how happy I was to see 'mama and papa' Oriole again! They flew to the Hummingbird feeder first, but quickly recognized their own feeder hanging from the arbor in the corner of the backyard. They are quite shy, but I did manage to take photos of them last year. Here is the less flamboyant female~
Here is a photo of her mate~
I think I have found the perfect cup for tea this afternoon! Isn't this Shelley bone china teacup gorgeous?
It's called Daffodil Time. The handle is a lovely shade of yellow.

Wouldn't it be lovely to come upon a wooded copse with Daffodils nodding their heads in the breeze?
What signs of Spring have you seen in your neck of the woods?

Aww I love your daffodil teacup! It's the perfect way to drink some tea during this fine Spring day!
ReplyDeleteThis is the perfect teacup for a spring tea. We have orioles too but some years I only hear them in the tall trees and they don't visit the feeder I have for them.
ReplyDeleteI love the Shelley, of course! And we don't have Orioles...our yellow is from Tanangers. Lovely post for spring! Thanks for linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea!

Such a sweet teacup, Shawn! I love daffodils and yellow birdies! One of our homes when the boys were growing up had a tiny grove of trees between our place and our neighbors and I was delighted to find daffodils nodding their pretty heads in there among the trees. I knew right away we were meant to live there. Thank you for sharing this with Tea Time and Happy Spring!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
I love daffodils. They always remind me of school teachers. Funny thing, my husband told me that he feels the same way. If you have not shared your spring spirit yet at Bacon Time, I would love for you to.
ReplyDeleteTERRIBLY jealous! We're still under snow with only a few brown patches showing!
ReplyDeleteDaffodil time is beautiful (well, it is Shelley of course!). Beautiful pictures of the Orioles!
ReplyDeletePretty shades of Spring!
ReplyDeleteOh, how I miss beautiful birds such as these!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kelley~
I was delighted to see you quoting Ruth! I have had her gardening book for over 20 years now, and have always admired her gardening. In fact, I just picked her book up yesterday and started reading it again for the first time in years, so it is quite the coincidence to see your quote! I do love your daffodil cup! I have always loved spring themed tea cups, and this one of yours is really perfect!
ReplyDeleteWe have had very crazy weather all winter, so signs of spring have been sporadic, but for me, it has been seeing my Japanese cheery tree burst out in bud and flower in a matter of 2 days : ) Gorgeous!
Happy spring to you dear!
Hugs,
Terri
Happy Spring! The return of the orioles must mean spring is really here. What a joy! The Shelley Daffodil time teacup is perfect for spring. I do love daffodils! Happy Tea Day!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet tea cup! I love spring!

So glad to share you tea! Isn't it wonderful to find joy in something like the birds returning. How sorry I feel for people to busy or unaware to notice and appreciate. Thank you for sharing the great pivtures of your feathered friends. Very uplifting.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen an oriole in our yard. I would really love to. Yes, that is a great teacup for spring!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely, cheerful post, Shawn! As always, I love your bird photos and stories....and the sweet teacup and saucer are perfect for Spring!
ReplyDeleteGosh you sure are lucky to have these bright birds come visit you; I don't have them in the Pacific Northwest. But spring is definitely springing along back home. All the crocuses have bloomed out and now it's daffodil time. :)
ReplyDeleteI love that pretty teacup, and you got some great pictures of the birds. I have not seen any orioles here, maybe I need to try the grape jelly and oranges. Do you do this? Also, do you know the poem by Wordsworth about the daffodils? it's called "I Wandered Lonely As a Cloud" and your post reminded me of it. It's a beautiful poem, if you want to google it.
ReplyDeleteLove that Shelley tea cup. You must live close to me if you deal with Santa Ana's. I am Glendale, where are you? Hugs, Martha
ReplyDeleteHi There,
ReplyDeleteI just love that Shelley teacup. It is so perfect for spring. Lovely daffodils too! Thank you for visiting me. Have a wonderful week! Karen
Here in the Northeast we can't wait to see some daffodils and yellow birds, we have had a long winter and the temperature is still below freezing and we still have some snow on the ground. Love your pictures, they give me hope. Thank you for sharing with the Clever Chicks Blog Hop! I hope you’ll join us again next week!

When my bulbs bloom, the Desert Wildflowers spring up and the Cacti begin to Flower Spring has arrived here in the Desert. It is early and brief before intense heat sets in for an extended Summer, but it is Sublime! Blessings from the Arizona Desert... Dawn... The Bohemian
ReplyDeleteShawn how wonderful to have those gorgeous birds return! Daffodils and the yellow Forsythia are the first sign of Spring here. Love them both! Gorgeous tea. Thanks for sharing with SYC.

Jann
Here you go - a daffodil garden in the mountains: http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/cottage/msg0315483728119.html We have a drought now so it wasn't as spectacular, but it still warmed the heart. Love that china cup.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful yellow bird and flower! Hey, I only buy asparagus in the spring when it's in season. I usually steam it in a little water covered for about 10 minutes. Last night I put it in the pan with the green tea salmon: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/371547037980387274/. Have a good week my friend!
