A Pocket Full Of Posies!

I got a package in the mail the other day - it was my new Treasured Times Rubber stamp by Roza Silva. I am part of their Design Team and am having fun with the charming folk art stamps they carry! In my Scrap Room today I created a card, as well as a quick tutorial to share with you. I designed this card with a pocket to hold a package of flower seeds~

start with card stock measuring 8" x 8.5"

after cutting away bottom left square draw a diagonal line across the right bottom square- this view is the inside of the card

after cutting on the diagonal, fold flap up and glue along right edge to form pocket

Now you are free to stamp and decorate your pocket card.

I stamped the Baby Doll In The Garden image twice: I fussy cut the second image and separated the flower pot from the baby doll. I colored the image with Distress Inks and my Zig Water pen, but you could use markers or pencils.

I used Kathy Davis card stock that is on sale right now at JoAnn's Fabric stores. I also used a strip of Recollections brand washi tape with birds on it. The little banner in the upper corner is Basic Grey. I mounted the flower pot on foam adhesive for dimension, which gives the illusion that the baby doll is sitting inside the pot!

Slide a flower seed packet into the pocket. I decorated the pocket with matching card stock and added a stamped sentiment

There is room for a tea bag, too!

Just for Dad

Remember the pocket cards I made a couple of weeks ago that held teabags? (see below)

I decided to make a Father's Day card with reds, which is one of my husband's favorite colors. For a tutorial and measurements see Tea With Alice.  Instead of dividing the pocket into two sections, I left it as one longer slot so a gift card would fit inside.

  • Basic Grey, Girls Paperie and DCWV card stock
  • Barn Door Distress Ink
  • CropADile and eyelets
  • label maker and black tape
Unfortunately, all the iTunes cards were pink and purple so they do not coordinate! Oh, well~ The front of the card has a quote about fatherhood on it, and I also stamped the envelope the card will be given in.

The greatest thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother.

My husband is thoughtful, selfless and generous. This quote was meant for him! College Girl also made him a card...but this one is for his silly side ~

Hugs and Hot Tea~

My friend Maggie sent me an altered journal the other day with a steampunk theme in rich teals and browns. What a nice surprise~ I love happy mail! Check out some of her creativity at her scrapbook gallery. To thank her I made a teabag card for her in vintage pinks and gold, with a touch of blue.

This little pocket card has pink roses, golden flowers and a chipboard butterfly painted blue on it. It also has pink eyelets, and I used a strip of torn fabric to tie it closed~ Nice combo of Old World and shabby chic, right?  I used my Verve stamps and Distress Inks in Mustard Seed and Worn Lipstick.

Inside there are two teabags...I put it in the mail to her this morning.

I like that these little cards can hold gift cards as well as teabags. For my friends who drink loose tea, I place small ziploc bags of fragrant tea in the pockets :)

Speaking of loose tea, I just learned that Upton Tea
provides a service that is fun and unique! They will personalize a printed label when you order tea from them....what a wonderful touch to a gift!

These are teabags from my friend Leintje in the Netherlands. I am sharing them with others. Isn't it a small world?

Hugs and Hot Tea...Happy Easter! Rejoice~
