Be Mine~

I love decorating for Valentine's Day, St. Patricks Day, and 4th of July as well as the expected holidays such as Easter and Christmas. It is just a fun way to mark the passing of time and has become entwined with our family traditions. Simple things like a handtowel with hearts on it in the bathroom make me smile~ This past Christmas my daughter printed an 8.5" x 11" sheet of cardstock for me that had the word 'JOY' superimposed over smaller script, which was actually paragraphs from A Chrismas Carol. We put the sheet into a vintage typewriter and set it in the foyer for guests to see. I liked it so much I decided to use the same idea but change the message for Valentine's Day!

I placed it on a table near a window in the living room with the Winter wreath.

I put cards from scrappy friends (hand made!) and a small vase of red sequined and white glitter balls on the table also.

Underneath the 'Be Mine' is 'How do I love thee?' by E. B. Browning~

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of every day's
Most quiet need, by sun and candlelight.

I'm enjoying the typewriter so much I think I'll keep it out year round, and add a new message each month~

  3. Oh, MY GOODNESS, Shawn!!! I recognize some goodies there :) Most importantly, I LOVE your typewriter idea...You ROCK when it comes to creative decorating!!!! BTW....I cherish the poem by E.B. Browning to! I was just looking at a little book of Love Poems & Love Letters For All the Year by Peter Pauper Press. DH gave it to me when we were engaged. This poem is one of my faves from this book. Also included is Ludwig Van Beethoven to the "Immortal Beloved". It is signed with:

    "ever thine

    ever mine

    ever for each other"

    E.T.E.M.
    E.F.E.O.

....how I sign ALL my Valentine Cards to MY BELOVED
