The Teacup with Love~

The manner of giving is worth more than the gift.  ~Pierre Corneille

Some teacups are rare, some are uniquely designed or painted, and some have value because of their special meaning or sentimental connections. One such teacup I own isn't valuable on the market, but it means a lot to me. It arrived by delivery one day when I was still single and dating a special guy~ When I opened the door I saw a delicate floral arrangement in this teacup.....

It was made in China and was probably mass produced, but when I see it I remember that handsome young man who sent it to me.

A wise lover values not so much the gift of the lover as the love of the giver.  ~Thomas á Kempis

I keep it displayed where I can see it as I get ready for the day. I put a tiny Marie Osmond porcelain doll in it that was a gift from my daughter. Isn't she sweet? She holds a tiny bouquet and has her curly hair in a pony tail~

She is just the right size for this treasured teacup~

There are delicate roses and leaves on the teacup and saucer.

And what happened to that loyal suitor? He asked me to be his wife and we recently celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary~

There is gold trim along the rim and down the center of the handle.

The little gleam of gold reminds me of my wedding band, and the guy who thought to send me flowers in a teacup all those years ago~

  2. Oh - a romantic remembrance for this Valentine month! Very sweet. Happiest of anniversaries to you - and many more, too!

I need to get moving with my tea post today - got the cold/flu that is knocking all and sundry out in these parts. Probably keep my post short - and truly sweet as I came by a marvie trio and matching creamer/sugar at an antique shoe this weekend! Joy!

  5. You had me wondering there for a while what your DH thought of a treasured teacup from a past admirer!
I see now why you display it with your precious doll.

  6. I love your pretty teacup! and the surprise story of your sweetheart! How thoughtful he was, and is! Now your teacup is vintage, and becomes more valuable with time, especially sentimentally.
I so admire Marie Osmond too, and her dolls are lovely. She's a tiny little treasure! 25 years ago, I used to have a ceramics studio and also made porcelain dolls, while I was home raising my children. One day I will get out the molds and make dolls again.
I really liked your sayings! they are so true!
    Happy Anniversary!
