I made a card last night using a color I do not usually gravitate toward, since I wanted to push myself a bit out of my comfort zone. I used yellow! It's not that I don't like it exactly, it is just that it is a color that does not look good on me and can oftentimes be too overpowering. I tend to like 'clean' colors as opposed to 'dusty', and jewel tones as opposed to warm tones. I do appreciate, however, yellow mixed with pink, navy or with black and white.

The set features a cheerful lemon yellow
base color on the outside of the cup and saucer with large bright pink
and burgundy cabbage roses around the inside of the cup. A small mimic
of the pattern is in the center of the saucer. The cup style is the
wide, attractive Avon. It is available at Ruby Lane.
A while ago I shared a couple of my tiny Madame Alexander dolls with you. This little sweetie, called "It's Raining" fits in perfectly with today's color theme, yellow. She is ready for a summer downpour, like the one I experienced when we traveled to Albuquerque two summers ago! Suddenly, we were bombarded by hail and thunder. No worries, this blue-eyed cutie even has matching rain booties and the perfect hat to keep her curly pigtails dry.

Very cute bird feeder. Lovely teacup that I would like to own. Wonderfully bright yellow and with the very cutest pink roses inside the teacup. I wish you a wonderful Wednesday! Zinnia

WOW! Your post is great today. I love the card, your bird feeder and that precious little doll. I'm missed Tea Time on Tuesday because I am with family. Our niece, who is 18 years old, had brain surgery, so we all decided to get together. It is just amazing. She had the brain surgery on Thursday and did so well that the doctors let her come home on Sunday. She is healing very well and is up getting around already. PRAISE be to God!
ReplyDeleteI've really enjoyed your tea time.
Hugs,
Brenda
Hi Shawn - Been lurking as opposed to actively visiting - and posting sparsely for a few project laden weeks - hoping to get back in the blogging groove and happy to stop in with you today - to talk about yellow! You have described my sentiments exactly! I wouldn't necessarily wear it or decorate with it - but a splash here or there is grand. Love your card - and I have been collecting select yellow in teacups - yours today is a knock-out! Grand post celebrating a hard to use color - at least in my book.
ReplyDeleteJoy!

The card you made is really lovely! I almost never wear yellow either, but I love yellow tea cups, and yours really is beautiful! The shape is fab and the flowers very pretty.
ReplyDeleteHave a sunny day : )
