Ink pads are best stored flat. Each pad is filled with liquid ink, and this ink can travel throughout the pad over time. If you stored your ink pads vertically, over time the ink would drop to the bottom edge of the pad, and you would no longer be able to get a fully-inked image when you tried to use the full surface of your ink pad. For this same reason, it is highly recommended that you store your ink pads upside down. This will keep the ink flow at the surface of the pad. This is especially important for dye-based ink pads, as this ink is thinner than other inks and will migrate through the pad at a faster rate. Ink pads containing thicker inks, such as pigment ink, can be stored face up.
Upside down & stacked, my Distress Inks were difficult to identify...my solution? Labels~
Thanks...mine are stored on end...very bad I think -going to go rectify that right now...TFS!

ReplyDeleteHave always struggled on how to store this inks. They take up so much room and I can never find the color I want. Labeling them like yours will really help. Thanks for the tip.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, Shawn!!! Thanks for the 'heads up" on this. I'm off to go make labels for my inks, now!
ReplyDeleteyes, a good reminder!
ReplyDeleteYes...a great reminder...just like my paints. I just need someone to hold my hand or say..."Heather get back to your messy area and put things away correctly...and try putting the lid on your ink pads...they will last longer" Maybe you could record that for me...lol..send it to me :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a great day Shawn!
I like the label idea! I started storing mine updside down last Spring, but a couple are still REALLY hard to get ink from. Maybe I bought them already dried out?
