I think I am ready for the big day~ I've put finishing touches on the decorations. My creative daughter used a paragraph from A Christmas Carol, put it in script font, then superimposed the word 'Joy' over it. She printed it out on cardstock and I inked the edges with Ranger Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I placed it in our old typewriter and set it in the foyer, next to our guest book. How does it look? I got the idea from another blog which actually used 3 typewriters to spell out the word joy, but we only have one typewriter, so this was my solution.
The typewriter is sitting on an old Singer sewing machine, and you can see our tree behind it with sun streaming in from the window.
Like so many of you I like a relaxing cup of tea in the afternoon!
Tea today was in my Brambly Hedge 'Winter' teacup in honor of the first day of Winter, December 22.
I had toasted Cranberry Walnut bread from Trader Joes.
The artwork on the cup is by Jill Barklem. She depicts charming mice in rural settings. The scene on this set has Mr. and Mrs. Apple just sitting down to a cozy dinner in front of the fireplace.
There is a snow mouse inside the cup~
I like the size and shape of the handle~
When the first snow falls, the mice will have a Snow Ball~
But right now, they are settling in for the evening with dinner and a good book~ Mrs. Apple drew two chairs up to the fire and brought in their supper on a tray.
I love the soft blue rim and intertwining branches~
Perhaps this tiny tea set, below, would be the perfect size for Mr. And Mrs. Apple? It is sitting under my daughters' ornament tree in the family room.
See Santa carrying a fir tree?
Wishing you a merry Winter~
(Happy Channukah to those who celebrate it!)

ReplyDeleteBeautiful cups! I have an old typewriter just like this one and it's mounted on wood, too. Aren't they heavy! I try to keep mine in one place because it's such a load. Merry Christmas to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteYou tea set is so lovely. I just love the art work! I love the way the mice are displayed for the season. Kind of makes you not be so mad at them so much...LOL...
ReplyDeleteI have typed on one of those typewriters before. My dad got me one when I was learning to type. But mind you, I was not from that time period!! LOL! He thought it would help teach me to place my fingers and hit hard. I told him that the new ones (from my day) were sensitive to the touch and you didn't have to hit them like that. But the typewriter was mine and I did use it. I LOVE the way you displayed it. Great idea!
Oh the little tea set is sooo cute! What can I say about little girls and tea set!! I have fond memories!!!
Thank you for visiting my blog and I do hope you will visit again.
Merry Christmas to you and yours,
