The sunflower seedlings had been doing well, then one day I noticed that many were given the 'Morticia Adams' treatment - they were beheaded! We didn't know what had eaten the flower tops. Yesterday afternoon, however, College Girl happened to look outdoors and see the guilty party. She grabbed a quick shot of the sunflower eating culprit - a baby cottontail!
Oh my! That is the cutest picture!!! Sorry about your sunflowers, but I do love bunnies. :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Cindy
Ha! Well, he just made himself right at home! Our dog used to keep the bunnies at bay from my plants and flowers. I have tried garlic stakes {years ago} and I wonder if garlic salt or powder would deter them.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the bunny was having a grand time! It is a darling picture...guess you'll have to replant.
ReplyDeleteHappy Spring.
Linda
I feel your pain... many a flower and vegetable sprout I've planted have served as a salad bar for the bunnies... it's just not cute after a while... sorry..
ReplyDeleteThat's a great photo! Luckily sunflowers are fast growers.
ReplyDeleteBunnies are only cute when stuffed.
ReplyDeleteLOL, well that's mean but I value my gardens too much to love them as I did before being a home owner...............
EXCELLENT pic - College Girl done goodly!!
The deer do this too! Funny you caught him in action!
ReplyDeleteThis is of the highest interest to me. I for the first time in many years have started sunflower seeds. And also for the first time in years, have spotted baby rabbit tracks in our remaining snow....Hmmm what to do what to do.
ReplyDeleteI think I will cover mine with some kind of a protective mesh for the first little while? Someone also said Irish Spring soap shavings will deter them?
I am up for ideas at any rate?.
PS your Morticia comment makes me laugh.
What a little stinker Mr. Bunny is!!!
