Purr Power

Animals are such agreeable friends - they ask no questions, they pass no criticisms. George Eliot

Who would believe such pleasure from a wee ball o' fur?  ~Irish Saying

I am doing my stretches, taking naps, eating right. I cannot put weight on my 'sciatic leg' but have seen improvement in the past 5 days. Ugh! Time passes slowly when one doesn't feel well. I have one steady companion throughout it all, though - our grey and white tuxedo cat with the olive green eyes. She sleeps in a chair near me, follows me to the bathroom and kitchen, and is overcome with purring when she spies enough room for her to curl up next to me on the sofa. (amid all my pillows!)

If there were to be a universal sound depicting peace, I would surely vote for the purr.
~Barbara L. Diamond

She is so devoted it touches my heart. Seeing the loyalty our kitty has shown to me the past week, College Girl e-mailed me the Healing Power Of Cat Purrs chart, and I found it quite fitting for my situation. Kitty sure is a comfort to me!
I'm giving her extra chin scratches for a few more minutes of her healing purr power. :)

  3. Isn't that the truth??? When my husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2009 and was extremely ill for about 8 months while they balanced his meds, our cat stuck to him like glue, followed him around as your does and generally was a constant companion. We took to calling her Nurse Micah. I think they know, and are concerned because they love you! What a gift they are!

  4. What a wonderful chart! Our kitties always make us feel better with their purrs, but I never thought of it having a physical cause.

  6. Hi Shawn,
I am sorry that you have problems with your leg. Despita that serious problems I had to smile when I saw the purr chart. Isn't that cute. Do you need one reason more to enjoy your rest on the couch with your sweet cat? No, its just the best for your health. And tea and nice lecture make the best of the situation. Don't forget to have some ham sandwiches for the both of you. That makes the kitty as much happy as you. And that is again helpful for your health. SMILE
    Best greetings, Johanna

  9. That's really cute and it's true. My cats are my best medicine when I'm sick or feeling down. (In fact, I'd like to leave work right now and go see them!)
