Slainte!

Slainte! I was given a very special  teacup and saucer by a dear friend and could not wait to share it with you. It's musical! Have you ever seen the like?

I love the kelly green shamrocks and gold trim on it.

It is delicate and has a lovely handle. Dare I say the handle reminds me of a leprechaun ear? haha~

When you lift the teacup from the saucer the music begins to play~

I cannot wait to bake up some Irish Tea Cakes, Soda Bread and Potato Cookies. Have you tried a Benedictine Tea Sandwich? The recipes for all these dishes and more are in A Year Of Teas at the Elmwood Inn by Shelley and Bruce Richardson.

I will be mailing out the tea and chocolate give away soon to Cindy. Ali, this is the prize for you as runner up. I decorated a purse-sized notebook with Kathy Davis 'Journeys' card stock. It has roses and gems on the front and a pearly sparkle!

  1. Congrats to your give-away winners, Shawn! WOOHOO! And thank you for sharing the lovely tea-cup! It is absolutely amazing - I am 1/2 Irish, so this one is right up my alley. And the fact that it plays music, makes it all the more awesome!!!! I can't wait to see photos from your "Iris tea!"

  2. This is a very special tea cup. There are lots of cups with shamrocks but the shape of the cup and the musical function makes it unique.

  3. What a fun teacup! I'm afraid once I picked it up and the music started to play I'd have to look at the bottom -- out come the tea! :D :D :D Wonderful St. Paddy's Day tea! Happy Tea Day!

  4. Dear Micupoftea:
Love your fun teacup - totally wonderful! I really like Shelley's tea book which breaks teas up by the month. I have quite a few of her books and she was a great pastry chef.

Thanks for linking to Friends Sharing Tea.

  6. What a great teacup! But...what does it play? When Irish Eyes Are Smiling???? I have a hand painted artisan teacup in my shop at the moment that plays Tea For Two.
I am going to get my corned beef today...and have soda bread plans too! I don't have that cookbook...looks like a must find. Thanks for linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea!

  10. A charming teacup, I've never seen a musical one before. You must tell us the tune it plays. I've already made shamrock sugar cookies and will bake a loaf of Iris soda bread next wee.

I sang "Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ra" to my babies to rock them to sleep... "An Irish Lullaby."

  18. Hello Shawn,
What a cute teacup! I too was wondering what melody it plays. I have always looked at teacup handles and thought many look like fairy/leprechaun ears. Thanks for coming to tea and enjoy your weekend.

    Blessings,
    Sandi
